Questions about our services

-- Home / Questions about our services
  • HOW MUCH DOES THE SHELTER COST?

    All our services are free.

  • HOW LONG CAN I STAY?

Every woman is unique, so the length of stay varies.

  • CAN MY BEST FRIEND COME VISIT ME?

For the safety of residents, their children and the workers at the shelter, the address is confidential, and we are strict about that. Therefore, no one can come to the house, aside from any minor children you may have. However, you can meet up with friends outside the home; in fact, this is encouraged to maintain valuable relationships and support.

  • CAN I STILL GO TO WORK?

Of course. You are free to go to work and/or on any outings.

  • CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN WITH ME?

Yes, our shelter houses both women and children.

  • WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?

The most important thing is that you and your children are safe.
But if the situation permits, it could be useful to bring:

    • A toiletries bag: shampoo, soap, etc.
    • Important documents such as birth certificate, tax returns, ID cards.
    • Belongings that are particularly important or mean a lot to you. These items should not be too big, and limited in number.
  • DO I HAVE TO SHARE A ROOM WITH ANOTHER WOMAN?

No. Every woman (or family) has her own room.

  • IS SOMEONE AROUND EVEN AT NIGHT?

Yes. Someone is available throughout the night, both at the shelter and to answer the phone.

  • WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET A SPOT AT THE SHELTER?

Call La Maison d’Ariane at 450-432-9355. One of our workers will explain how it works.

  • IF I CALL YOU, DO I HAVE TO GO TO THE SHELTER?

Not at all. We offer over-the-phone support, external meetings, and support with legal matters.

  • IF MY PARTNER HASN’T HIT ME, CAN I STILL GET HELP?

Yes. Violence exists in many forms, including verbal, psychological, economic and sexual.

  • I’M AFRAID OF TAKING THE SPOT OF ANOTHER WOMAN WHO MIGHT NEED IT.

You have a spot because you need it.

  • I DON’T WANT TO FILE CHARGES. CAN I STILL COME TO THE SHELTER?

Tout à fait. Chaque femme est unique, et chacune entreprend sa dévictimisation à son rythme, et selon ses propres stratégies.
